Description

The exhibition invites you on a journey through Basel's food culture. It begins with the cookbook Basler Kochschule from 1877 and continues through the city's culinary diversity – served in thematic bites from past and present. The story of typical Basel specialties, the change in shopping options, but also the drastic food rationing during wartime is told. In addition to bourgeois eating and table manners as well as traditional recipes from old Basel, the exhibition also highlights Basel inventions in the food industry and facets of today's gastro and food scene. Varied accompanying events round off the culinary discovery journey.
