Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 9 in E-flat Major (KV 271) How do we experience Mozart's works when we not only hear his music but also see it? Ballett Dortmund has found a simple yet clever answer to this question: three choreographies, three approaches – and thus three surprisingly different variations.
Jiří Kylián's "Petite Mort" condenses Mozart's slow movements into a fragile world where beauty, vulnerability, and strength become visible at once. Uwe Scholz takes up a work in "Jeunehomme" that was considered revolutionary for its time. Scholz, famous for his symphonic ballets, translates the complexity of the music into a clear, elegant movement architecture. Finally, Tess Voelker sets a contemporary counterpoint with "get home safe": reduced, precise, open, and close to human states of being. Within clear choreographic structures, the dancers work with improvisation, allowing each moment to emerge anew.
On this evening, Mozart appears not only as a musical giant. Rather, he gifts us a sound carpet on which new perspectives unfold through the power of dance. Duration: 120 minutes, including intermission
