After the great success of the past season with the Tango dedicated program, violinist Anton Jablokov returns to Stadtcasino Basel with his new project "Balkan Passion." In this program, Eastern European folk music is reinterpreted through original arrangements written specifically for this ensemble. The concert unfolds a dialogue between passionate dances, captivating gypsy rhythms, and nostalgia-driven ballads, bringing centuries-old melodies to life in a refined and virtuosic sound language. The core idea of the project is that folk music represents a universal cultural heritage that connects people through immediate energy and emotion. Anton Jablokov - a young violinist, originally from Bratislava and now based in Ticino. He combines classical precision with the energy of folk and world music. Anton studied in Lucerne, Essen, and Lugano. He is a prizewinner and finalist of various international competitions and has performed as a soloist with the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Ulster Orchestra, and the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana (OSI). Corrado Giuffredi is one of the most important Italian clarinetists of his generation. As a long-standing solo clarinetist of the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, he impresses internationally with his warm tone, virtuosity, and especially his extraordinary stylistic versatility. Claude Hauri - Swiss cellist with an international career. He has performed with renowned orchestras such as the OSI, the National Symphony Argentina, and the Slovenian Philharmonic. He is also a sought-after chamber musician and particularly active in contemporary music. Adam Ilyas Kuruc - Slovak pianist and composer with a broad repertoire spanning classical, jazz, and film music. He has composed and arranged for numerous renowned ensembles and soloists worldwide. His work for the Grammy-winning duo Rodrigo y Gabriela, for which he contributed significant compositions, gained particular international attention.
