Bal Folk with Trio Loubelya (F) and Zéphyr Combo A Bal Folk is a casual dance event with live music where everyone can join in. It originated in France but has become hugely popular across Europe among all generations. A Bal Folk is an ideal introduction to the world of dance. Many circle, couple, and line dances—such as the Chapelloise, Cercle Circassien, waltz, mazurka, Scottish dance, bourrée, branles, hanterdro, gavotte, and more—can be danced without any prior experience. Workshops 4:00–6:00 p. m.

Trio Loubelya: Trio Loubelya’s bal folk is at once intimate and expressive, virtuosic, rousing, and moving. Just like the bond that has developed among its members from bal to bal on the streets of Europe. The refined sound of the accordion sets the stage for a musical interplay in which the clarinet and saxophones—sometimes subtle, sometimes playful—challenge the rich depth of the double bass.

Original arrangements of traditional tunes complement the group’s virtuoso original compositions. Performances are possible as a quartet or trio. Geert also enjoys performing a solo piano set before or after the main set.
