Kissing in the moshpit. You don't do that anymore after a certain age. The last time
being in love was years ago, and who wants to sprain an ankle anyway. But
directly where collarbones go to break, where endorphins make the pain bearable, Bahnhofbuffet Chancental feels at home. Musically, the mind
wants to break through the wall, but in the lyrics, there's unmistakably also vulnerable romance. Post-punk
perhaps. Could be. Maybe a bit rougher and with grainy 90s aesthetics. What's new with
Bahnhofbuffet Chancental is also the excessive autotune. And then in Swiss German, because why not. Hasn't been done before. They call it
three-quarters seriously "dialect autotune grunge". Bahnhofbuffet Chancental has never found the connection to millennials, who hide behind their mustaches and training jackets under five
layers of irony. Too much
provincialism sticks to the Converse shoes. The songs are written by and for country kids who
struggle to find an identity in Zurich, but then feel just as foreign there. In the end,
you will be disappointed everywhere. What remains is bitter honesty and the shrugging
acceptance of mediocre origins. So here is the Rhine Valley – the region that in an
awkward attempt at location marketing called itself "Chancental". It's been a long time.
