Description

In 2003, Constanza Macras and her company Dorky Park created the legendary piece BACK TO THE PRESENT, which premiered in the abandoned Jandorf department store in Berlin-Mitte and then toured the world. Now, after more than 20 years, BACK TO THE PRESENT is back! Constanza Macras embarks on a journey into the past. Where do you go when you don't want to deal with either the past or the future?
Jill Emerson, the iconic performer from earlier works of Dorky Park, returns to the show, surrounded by a completely new cast. The characters find themselves after a breakup in a casting for a reality show. They try to be completely themselves while simultaneously becoming archetypes for a mass audience. Fetishized objects of past relationships accumulate like debris under a pile of rubble. BACK TO THE PRESENT lives in a kind of limbo between the layers of its own history. Jill has evolved but decided to return to where she believes it all began: BACK TO THE PRESENT.
