Denise Hasler reads, musically accompanied by Dimitri Howald "Babylon Park" is, as the title suggests, a playful mixture of languages: Bernese German is enriched with English and French expressions, from time to time the language shifts into Standard German, and here and there a language fragment in Bosnian emerges off the beaten path. "Babylon Park" is a kind of cacophony, as the 21st century has produced mainly in cities with its globalization, where languages, cultures, and influences mix and enrich each other. Ariane von Graffenried's texts come from the "Spoken Word" sphere and fascinate with their fresh directness. They cross - freely and imaginatively - linguistic boundaries and also geographical lines, flying from the high mountains through the suburban midlands to the sea coasts. The literary crossing of landscapes and countries leads to a cross-view of political, social, and personal realities. Playful in entertainment as well as in polemics, the author mixes aesthetics with social critique, the fantastic with the factual, the laughable with the thought-provoking. "Babylon Park" thus becomes a lyrical Comédie humaine.
