With Baba Roga, the party starts wherever they play: The band around accordionist Faruk Muslijevic plays Balkan music that warms the heart and gets the legs bouncing. The notorious fairy tale figure 'Baba Roga' from Slavic mythology has already made many children's hearts from the Balkans beat faster. The band, which bears this name, loves the melancholic melodies and fast grooves from the Balkans. Founded in 2006, Baba Roga has since lived on the traditional musical heritage of the Balkans: from Russian polka and waltz to Macedonian, Albanian, Greek, Croatian, Bosnian, or Serbian folk music. Whether Goran Bregovic, Saban Bajramovic, Naftule Brandwein: the musicians of Baba Roga love them all and enjoy arranging and interpreting the songs with their personal, jazzy note. This is also reflected in their original compositions. Virtuosic solos face off against irregular rhythms, sometimes polka, sometimes waltz, sometimes intensely aggressive, then again gentle and quiet. The band describes their sound: "Sometimes people want to dance their souls out with us, sometimes they just open up and fall into Balkan melancholy.
