AulaTalk: Experience Hyperdiversity: Youth in Pluralistic Switzerland

Description

In Switzerland, around 56% of children between the ages of 7 and 14 have a migration background today (BFS, Structural Survey, data as of 2024). This proportion is expected to increase further in the coming years. Hyperdiversity describes not only origin but also different life realities, languages, religious references, social backgrounds, and identity concepts.

The lecture by Jey Aratnam explores what hyperdiversity means for young people, the opportunities and challenges it presents, and how schools, society, and institutions can deal with this reality. The central question is how belonging, self-determination, and social cohesion can be shaped in a pluralistic society.
