Description

Animals take power - and the world becomes a better place! In the fairy tale land Rheintal, the animals on a farm have taken over the scepter. Freed from humans, they take the lead and finally life begins in earnest. In times when humans are about to ruin the Earth, such a social revolution, as Orwell envisions, would be a comforting utopia that allows us to breathe: animals take matters into their own paws and claws. Society is reconstituted - without capital, surplus value, and money. Ranisch and Rupf step into the ring of many animal characters and exemplify how a new coexistence emerges, where everyone seems to be doing well; some, of course, a little better, but not everyone knows that. The two actors counter the text with seductive songs and antics from the arsenal of agitprop as well as bittersweet Swiss songs. The protagonists throw themselves into absurd choreographies, folk dances, and singing performances. These interruptions give the story a special spice and sharpen the view of the seemingly fairy-tale-like in its relevance. Orwell's novel bears the deliberately trivializing subtitle "A Fairy Tale." But fairy tales are not only beautiful. They can also be evil: wolves eat grandmothers, stepmothers murder daughters, witches end up in the oven. And what initially appears as a harmless children's story in Orwell's work turns out to be a hard-hitting, satirical indictment of totalitarian systems. Because as soon as everyone is equal, some are more equal than others. And the clever pigs build their dominance into a dictatorship...
