With her remarkable novel debut, Anette Selg has created "a narrative full of poetry and finely drawn images" (MDR Kultur), which she will present at the Literature Autumn. "The Year Before I Disappeared" tells of a woman in the middle of her life and her longing for change. The protagonist no longer finds the existence between family and work life satisfying. As she plans a great departure, she loses herself in dreams, small escapes, and old memories. Until the past and present collide even before her journey, questioning her entire reality. Born in Tuttlingen, Anette Selg (*1968) worked as an editor, including for the Other Library by Hans Magnus Enzensberger, and as an editor. As a freelance journalist, she wrote for Deutschlandfunk Kultur, SWR, NZZ, and mare. She has been a literary fellow at various locations, read at the Open Mike and the Bachmann Competition in Klagenfurt. She works as a teacher at a high school center in her adopted hometown Berlin.
