Description

At a garden party on a sunny afternoon, Alice is surprised when Lewis Carroll, a friend of her parents, transforms into a white rabbit. As she follows him into the rabbit hole, the events become increasingly strange. On her journey through Wonderland, Alice encounters countless strange creatures. Confusion begets confusion. Then Alice wakes up with a start. Was it all just a daydream? Christopher Wheeldon's Alice in Wonderland celebrated a spectacular debut in 2011 with a fireworks display of colors, stage magic, and an imaginative yet challenging choreography. Joby Talbot's score combines contemporary soundscapes with melodies that hint at the great ballet scores of the 19th century. Bob Crowley's imaginative and captivating production is grand, from marionette puppetry to projections, making Wonderland wonderfully real. Consequently, the Royal Ballet shows its best form, bringing world-class dance together with enchanting family entertainment – a true celebration of music and staging.
