The Albin Brun Quartet brings together four prominent personalities from jazz and Swiss new popular music, who have created an immediately recognizable sound together. Performing only original compositions, the quartet moves effortlessly within a space at the crossroads of popular music, jazz, and free improvisation. Virtuosic passages, complex rhythms, and lyrical landscapes follow one another in a surprising way, giving rise to highly expressive music. Melodic, rhythmic, and full of energy, the music of Lucerne multi-instrumentalist and composer Albin Brun is inspired by alpine tradition, world music, and jazz. With Patricia Draeger on accordion, Claudio Strebel on double bass, and Markus Lauterburg on drums and percussion, Brun's group is distinguished by an irresistible sound characterized by charm, playfulness, and passion. The quartet blends odd rhythms, lightness, and pure joy to create music that is moving, surprising, spontaneous, colorful, and decidedly poetic.
