A country at war, a woman caught in a conflict between father, lover, and powerful rival: Verdi's "Aida" is one of the classics of the opera repertoire and remains a crowd-puller to this day. Captivating and musically gripping, Verdi tells a highly emotional relationship drama against a political backdrop, where personal feelings and political calculation clash irreconcilably. The tragic story of Aida and Radamès is marked by monumental choruses, intimate arias, and passionate duets – and not least by the world-famous Triumphal March, which has achieved cult status far beyond the opera. Frédéric Roels directs Verdi's grand masterpiece. The musical direction is in the hands of Yannis Pouspourikas.
