With their traditional Advent concerts, SCHOLA HEIDELBERG has been a guest throughout the region for many years. Under the direction of Ekkehard Windrich, the ensemble spans a wide musical arc over six centuries – from the Renaissance to the present.
You will hear works by Heinrich Schütz, Johannes Brahms, C. P. E. Bach, Johann Schein, Morton Feldman, and many more. The eight-member vocal ensemble is accompanied by organ and cello. "The program invites you to discover Advent expectations in their historical, linguistic, and spiritual diversity – an impressive soundscape that makes the timeless effect of biblical poetry newly perceptible," says managing director Dominique Mayr.
The two ensembles of KlangForum Heidelberg are internationally sought-after ensembles that have performed this year at the Salzburg Festival, the Radio France Festival in Montpellier, the Bern Music Festival, and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.
