Description

Anastasia Kobekina, Cello
Tomo Keller, Conductor Grażyna Bacewicz: Concerto for String Orchestra (1948)
Joseph Haydn: Cello Concerto No. 1 in C Major Hob. VIIb:1
Igor Stravinsky: Suite Italienne (Arr. Benjamin Wallfisch)
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Symphony No. 29 in A Major KV 201 The Academy of St Martin in the Fields, founded in 1958 by Sir Neville Marriner, is now one of the world's leading chamber orchestras. As a flagship of British musical culture, the ensemble has stood for musical excellence for decades. Under the artistic direction of Joshua Bell, it promotes an ensemble-oriented approach: intense musical interactions – even with the audience. Alongside this global export hit stands a soloist celebrated by Le Figaro as an "incomparable musician": Anastasia Kobekina. The award-winning cellist – who was recently honored with the Opus Klassik and the Leonard Bernstein Award – seeks exactly this form of dialogue. Her playing is considered present without overshadowing others. The program strategically utilizes this constellation: Haydn demands clarity and precision, Bacewicz requires rhythmic cohesion, and Stravinsky calls for stylistic flexibility. Mozart's Symphony No. 29 ultimately thrives on equal interplay. By the way, ARD produced a four-part documentary series in February 2025 about the Russian cellist and her Antonio Stradivari cello from 1698. The title of the series: "Anastasia Kobekina – Now or Never." Tickets: 76 / 64 / 50 / 34 €
