Description

With "Absent Presence," the ensemble eeek, Ensemble of the 2026/27 season at Gare du Nord, explores questions of memory, visibility, and artistic identity. Based on Virginia Woolf's call for "A Room of One’s Own," the program highlights female composers who have shaped Basel's contemporary music scene. Their works are in dialogue with a new commissioned composition by Eleni Ralli, which continues to explore the tension between presence and absence, memory and the present.
The concert is conceived as an artistic investigation and invites audiences to make hidden perspectives audible and to experience the history of contemporary music from a new point of view. Participants and additional information:
