KARLSRUHE CONCERTS 26/27 - WORLD STARS AND INTERNATIONAL TOP ORCHESTRAS 6th Master Concert - Symphony Concert with Yulianna Avdeeva GREATEST PASSION AND EXCELLENCE The closing concert of the 26/27 season by Karlsruhe Concerts combines two of the most fascinating musical personalities with the top-class SWR Symphony Orchestra: the star pianist Yulianna Avdeeva and Anna Handler, the young chief conductor of the Ulster Orchestra in Belfast. Since winning 1st prize at the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 2010, Avdeeva has been celebrated by the music world as a "fearless, confident interpreter with steady nerves and even steadier fingers" (Hamburger Abendblatt). Her gripping piano style is characterized by energetic power and high sensitivity. Numerous CD recordings document her artistic work. "Describing the uniqueness of her interpretation is hardly possible; you have to hear it!" (Bachtrack). She is now to be experienced as the ideal soloist in Béla Bartók's masterful 3rd Piano Concerto. "When I conduct, I am in a different sphere," says the young German-Colombian conductor Anna Handler. "I have this willingness to go deeper, and I would also call that talent. I believe talent is not something innate, but simply a willingness, the will to stay with it for a long time." With will and passion, Handler, who also appears as a pianist and chamber musician, has secured a firm place in the top tier of the classical scene. She performs with the most renowned ensembles in the world. At Karlsruhe Concerts, she conducts the SWR Symphony Orchestra through the complex sound worlds of Johannes Brahms and Joseph Haydn alongside Bartók. Brahms: Tragic Overture op. 81 in D minor
