Description

Four older people and five chairs. The four sit down, one chair remains empty because one is missing. Are they passing their time in front of a residential building or a nursing home? Do they meet at a gas station or in a café, in a shabby bar? It doesn't matter. What is clear, however, is that they have known each other for a very long time. One is in love with another and doesn't say it. One mourns the fifth and does not confront it. One is still a child and spins around dancing. One just wants to have peace. All four would like to feel freer now, in this last fifth of their biography. What awaits us in old age and what do we expect from old age? How differently do people deal with their growing years? Can one learn to eventually make a point, and do they even want to? How to deal with the fact that society assigns the significance of elevator music to one and prefers to overlook it? In 4/5, very different people come together, grappling with their questions, hopes, and problems, playfully re-exploring old age time and again. They remember, they make plans, and perhaps in the end, there will be more empty chairs than at the beginning. The Lucerne theater group Zell:stoff, founded in 2009 by actor and producer Patric Gehrig, director Sophie Stierle, and set designer Saskya Germann, creates pieces in collaboration with various artists from the independent scene that address socio-political themes.
