Four famous actors of the Swiss theater scene – Nikola Weisse, Jaap Achterberg, Suly Röthlisberger, and Pierre Siegenthaler – appear together on stage for the first time in "4/5 or On the Art of Not Becoming Elevator Music." All four sit down, one chair remains empty because someone is missing. Each chair is a space in itself and at the same time part of a network of relationships among these four – formerly five – older people, who begin to tell their present in a humorous and curious way. Are they passing time in front of a residential building or a retirement home? Do they meet at a gas station or in a café, in a rundown bar? It doesn't matter. What is clear, however, is that they have known each other for a very, very long time. **314 years of life, joy of acting, and elevator music**
With a large dose of self-irony and comedy, Nikola Weisse, Jaap Achterberg, Suly Röthlisberger, and Pierre Siegenthaler examine themselves and a society that attributes significance to elevator music for old people and even prefers to ignore it altogether. They defy aging and grapple with their questions, hopes, and problems. They remember, make plans, and perhaps in the end, more chairs will be free than at the beginning. What awaits us humans in old age, and what do we expect from old age? How differently do people deal with their increasing years? These are questions that concern many. At the same time, it is about physical changes, losses, and confrontation with one's own mortality. Welcome to a cross-generational piece of everyday history full of playfulness and humor.
