21st Century Quintet (Progressive Jazz / Folk)

Description

A group composed of five young, talented, and exceptional musicians. The band is very active and recognized in the Lithuanian music scene, performing both at home and abroad. The band was formed in 2019 at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, initially accompanying drummer Mihails Novikovs at his graduation concert and later participating in the 'Jazz Scene' competition organized by the 'Kaunas Jazz' festival. Since then, the quintet has become a staple of jazz festivals and concert stages across the country. Over the past seven years, the quintet has performed at numerous festivals, including 'Vilnius Jazz', 'Vilnius Mama Jazz', 'Jazz Jaunystė' in Elektrėnai, 'Klaipėda Castle Jazz Festival', 'Vievis Jazz Keys', 'Utena Percussion and Jazz Festival', 'MO Museum Christmas', 'Alytus Jazz Festival', and 'Nida Jazz Marathon'. The group has also repeatedly performed at the most famous Lithuanian jazz club, 'Jazz Cellar 11'. In 2025, their concert for International Jazz Day was broadcast by LRT Radio to listeners in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Armenia. The quintet has also appeared at international jazz festivals such as 'Jazz Fest' (Norway), 'Jazz’n Chisinau' (Moldova), and 'Guoyu pa Jazz' (Latvia). Radio host Laima Slepkovaitė (LRT Jazz) stated that they are 'a great example of Lithuanian jazz among emerging European talents'. In March 2024, the quintet released their debut album 'On Ararat', which draws inspiration from Armenian folk music, progressive jazz, rock, jazz-fusion, and elements of blues. In 2025, the group released two singles: 'Footprints' and 'Erzrumi Shoror'. The ensemble continues to develop its distinctive musical identity and actively performs on stages in Lithuania and abroad.
