125 Years Uerikon-Bauma Railway: The Great Steam Train Festival in the Zürcher Oberland!

On October 10 and 11, 2026, a grand celebration will be held around Bachtel to commemorate the 125th anniversary of our main line, the remaining section of the Uerikon-Bauma railway line (UeBB). A total of four steam locomotives as well as other electric and thermal vehicles will be in service. Following the great success of the 150th anniversary of the Tösstalbahn last year, three other significant anniversaries are planned in our region in 2026:

• 125 years of the Uerikon-Bauma railway line (UeBB) (our main line)
• 150 years of the Tösstalbahn (2nd section: Bauma – Wald – Rüti)
• 150 years of the Kempttalbahn (Effretikon – Wetzikon – Hinwil) We take this opportunity to offer, for the first time in many years, public tourist circuits at Bachtel with connections to Hinwil. For this route, we will use the "Wyländerli," a vehicle that used to run regularly in the Töss valley. This circuit allows you to partially travel all the lines celebrating their anniversary! Among the absolute highlights, we will welcome the steam railcar of the UeBB (now CFF Historic / Association Dampfgruppe Zürich) as well as the steam locomotive from Langnau, a sister locomotive of the Tösstalbahn locomotives, dating back to 1881. Of course, our locomotive 401, also an original locomotive of the UeBB, will also be present. And as always, children up to 16 years travel for free with the DVZO! Highlights
• A time travel in two stages, lasting just under 2 hours, around Bachtel, aboard a steam train and an electric train. In Hinwil, a stop of just under 20 minutes is planned for the train change
• Many motor vehicles
• Noon trip with the "Wyländerli" on Saturday
• Bistro on the platform in the Bauma train station hall.
• Visit to the locomotive and wagon depot in Bauma
• Visit to "Töss bewegt". A time travel in Bauma
• Heating workshop on Saturday
• On Sunday, the Neuthal museum is open from 11 AM to 5 PM.
