Description

TPR goes on a stroll in Besançon to discover Macha Makeïeff's new creation. The Marseille-based director returns to theatrical writing and reconnects with slapstick, this poetic form of comedy. A troupe of six astonishing, virtuoso artists find themselves unexpectedly in an unlikely place, like a dance floor in the middle of the desert. If we sing, we dance frantically, just before disaster! A Dadaist anxiety hovers over this territory: injunctions, summons, absurd instructions, alarms. They entered without intention; the only fact is being there; perhaps to extinguish despair. They carry with them desires, unconfessed secrets, hallucinations, flashes of insight, and some party costumes! Macha Makeïeff is a French author, director, filmmaker, and visual artist. She also creates many theater sets and costumes. She is the founder, with Jérôme Deschamps, of the troupe Les Deschiens. In 1978, they founded their theater company 'Deschamps & Makeïeff' and created more than twenty shows blending theater, choreography, and music. Macha Makeïeff was the artistic director of the Théâtre de Nîmes from 2003 to 2008 and then of La Criée, Théâtre national de Marseille from 2011 to 2022. In 2000, she founded Films de Mon Oncle, for the restoration and promotion of Jacques Tati's work. Since 2022, she has been directing her company, la Cie MadeMoiselle.
