Description
The Bannholz is a forest area on the edge of Schwarzenburg. Over the past five years, a true natural paradise has emerged there. It blooms in all colors, flutters and buzzes, birds sing, small mammals and frogs can be spotted with some luck. Wild bees also inhabit the Bannholz.
Every year, the Gantrisch Nature Park, in cooperation with the Schwarzenburg Nature Conservation Association, maintains the tiered forest edge to preserve the beautiful and educational diversity of plant and animal species. Under expert guidance, small structures, spawning and breeding sites such as the stock wall, stone and branch piles, the pond, labyrinth path, and nettle garden, as well as paths and embankments, are restored.
After a wonderful summer, nature prepares for winter. Larger tasks are carried out in the Bannholz during the autumn work session. These include cutting and thinning, raking, removing weeds – the work never ends!
Come by and help prepare the Bannholz for the winter months. | From Schwarzenburg station, it is a 25-minute walk to the Wahlern church. Allow enough time for your journey.
