This year's 'Writers in Prison Day' focuses on the literary works of Palestinian writer Yousri Alghoul. Born in the Gaza Strip in the 1980s, he early on transformed his experiences into literature. He writes about life in Gaza, war, love, loss, and the hopelessness of many young people. Alghoul has published several books, including three novels, six collections of short stories, as well as recent diaries and documentary texts about the war in Gaza. Besides his literary work, he is active as a journalist and human rights activist. He studied at Al-Azhar University. As an UNAOC alumnus and APF Fellow, he is engaged internationally in dialogue and human rights. He also founded several initiatives, including the Global Shapers Community – Gaza Hub, the Cordoba Cultural Initiative, and the Shaghaf Youth Initiative. His lectures have taken him to numerous countries in Europe, Asia, and America. Since early 2026, Yousri Alghoul has been living in Switzerland and continues his literary and social engagement from here.
