Description

From January 11 to February 1, 2027, on Jan 11 / 18 / 25, and Feb 1, 2027, each from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, attend the performance «Slow Rush» on Jan 28, 2027, CHF 60 (for participants up to 30 years old, the performance visit is included). The ballet evening «Slow Rush» deals with contrasts: speed versus slowness. It features the piece «Last touch first» by Jiri Kylian and Michael Schumacher (2003), where six figures move in a fin de siècle interior, in slow motion, through a piece reminiscent of Chekhov and Ibsen. In contrast, Stephanie Lake is expected to create an energetic, fast-paced piece set to music by Robin Fox. Her works explore the relationship between the individual and the masses. Over four evenings, we will delve into two different choreographic styles, comparing old and new, discovering similarities and differences. The workshop series offers a practical dance approach to the choreographic works. We will improvise and dance a lot, getting to know the artistic signatures of the two choreographers. Additionally, dancers from the Zurich Ballet will give us insights into the creation and background of the pieces, and of course, the joint attendance of the ballet evening is part of the program. No dance experience is required. Wear comfortable or training clothes. Dressing rooms and showers are not available. Led by Bettina Holzhausen and Angelika Ächter, CHF 60 (for participants up to 30 years old, the performance visit is included).

General Information

The «Slow-Rush» workshop series offers adults aged 16 and over the opportunity to engage with the choreographies of Jiri Kylian and Stephanie Lake. Over four evenings, participants will explore the artistic signatures of the two choreographers through improvisation and dance, gaining insight into the creation of the works.
