Women at Königsfelden Abbey

Description

Königsfelden Abbey was firmly in the hands of women: founded by Queen Elisabeth in 1309, her daughter Agnes led the convent to prosperity. The Poor Clares commemorated the deceased Habsburgs in the monastery church.

Unlike the nuns back then, visitors are allowed to enter the choir and view the stained glass windows. In doing so, they learn more about the women depicted.
