Wolfhalden/Lutzenberg cattle show

Description

To the delight of the numerous spectators lining the Dorfstrasse and Kronenstrasse, individual farmers parade in the traditional Sennisch style, i. e. in the same order as for the Alpabzug and in the appropriate traditional costume of yellow pants with a red breast cloth or the working day costume from outside Rhodes. Everyone enters the area under a wooden triumphal arch decorated with fir branches, flowers and ribbons. The cattle are tethered to long poles according to predetermined categories. The judging panel, consisting of experienced farmers, now begins its work. They judge the animals according to their beauty and performance and rank them in the correct order. The most beautiful animals are decorated with a wreath of paper flowers. Young breeders are also allowed to take part in many shows and exhibit their goats. Timetable: - Between 8.45 and 9.15 a. m. the cattle are brought up - The presentation of calves, cattle and sheep begins at 1 p. m. - The Miss Wolfhalden-Lutzenberg will be chosen at around 3 pm - This is followed by the show critique At 4 pm is "Abloo": the animals are brought back to the farms - When driving home (from 4 pm) it is recommended to arrive early Some farmers have to travel as far as the borders of Heiden - The evening ends in the festival restaurant. Good to know: - There is a straw castle for children - Big tombola - The festival restaurant is located on the cattle show grounds at the Restaurant/Hotel Krone Former Restaurant Adler - Market stalls with clothing paraphernalia, bleaching farm and other local specialties - At the entrance, each farming family has a farm mirror where they introduce themselves - Besides cattle, sheep are also on display: These arrive by 8 a. m. with the trailer and the departure also takes place a little earlier - Parking is available right next to the town hall, at the Krone restaurant/hotel and at the church
