Description
Favorite land of the gods: The ancient cultural landscapes of today's western Turkey, Troas, Ionia, and Lydia, combine geography, history, and mythology. Hector meets the Aegean olive, the Meander flows along Thales' theorem, and the Artemis of Ephesus kisses Heinrich Schliemann's shining forehead. Artists, historians, and poets have long celebrated the urban planning and architecture of Pergamon, Priene, Miletus, and Aphrodisias in their works, and to this day, spirit, beauty, and mystery dwell there, seduced by the fragrant logos of Heraclitus and the glowing verses of Sappho.
