Description
How do babies think? What can small children already understand long before they speak? And how do they discover the world around them step by step? The lecture takes you on an exciting journey into the first years of life and shows how surprisingly early children begin to perceive their environment, discover connections, and learn. Because children do not start thinking only when they can speak: even infants bring diverse abilities and are actively involved from the start in understanding the world. Using vivid examples from everyday life and with a view to important findings in developmental psychology, it becomes clear how children learn as curious explorers, as social beings, and in their relationships. At the same time, it addresses the question of what children need from us adults: How can we sensitively, developmentally appropriately, and relationship-orientedly support their development? A lecture for everyone who wants to better understand children and look at their first steps into the world with a curious eye. Afterwards, there is an opportunity to ask questions and engage in conversation with the speaker. Speaker: Simone Sprecher, Head of Pedagogy at the Marie Meierhofer Institute, Zurich
