Director Hlynur Pálmason, with his unique filmmaking poetics, shows how much valuable can remain from love, even when everything seems to be gone. Far away, in a small Icelandic town, a family of five with a sheepdog enjoys a late dinner. They appear happy and content, sheltered from the dangers of the outside world. The mother, a talented artist, is preparing her most extensive work. The father earns a living on a fishing boat. The teenage children are fortunate to live in perfect harmony with nature. In this film, there are no right-wing extremists or murderers. Just ordinary people with common feelings and problems. You will see simple little things like: hikes, bathing the dog, snow, food, frozen fish, rubber boots, seasons, orcas, summer dresses. Humor, sex… or the lack of it. Just things that are truly important. Yet beneath it all lies something we do not understand. Something ancient, animalistic. The film is called 'What Remains of Love'. Watch it.
