Description
The music city of Vienna is usually associated with the music of the Viennese Classical period, or at best with the so-called Second Viennese School around Arnold Schoenberg. We do it differently: Zemlinsky was a contemporary of Gustav Mahler and represents something like a musical Viennese Art Nouveau. Roman Haubenstock-Ramati, born Polish, found refuge and a new home in Vienna from the horrors of the 20th century. This is also an important and musically relevant aspect of Vienna. Finally, Antonín Dvořák, as a Czech and Prague native, was part of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. Concert introduction at 3:15 pm with Edward Rushton PROGRAM Alexander v.
