The Winterthur Christmas Market also delights in 2026 with its festive atmosphere in front of the romantic backdrop of the historic old town. Thousands of lights and lovingly designed decorations bathe the alleys in a warm, Christmas light. For even more coziness, new rustic seating areas and an atmospheric lighting ambiance that bathes the Neumarkt in a very special Christmas light are provided this year. A special highlight is and remains the Märliwald, which is accessible via the atmospherically lit passage and takes young and old into a magical Christmas world. Families can look forward to a varied program there every Wednesday and Saturday with face painting for children, storytelling, or gingerbread decorating – for shining children's eyes in Advent. Another highlight for the little ones is the traditional Chlauseinzug on November 29, 2026, when the Samichläuse enter the old town and create shining eyes. In line with this, the Samichlaus-Post invites children to send their wish lists directly to Samichlaus. Three heartfelt wishes will also be fulfilled this year. The varied supporting program also makes the Christmas market a special experience. On the Christmas stage and at the Neumarkt, musical performances, choirs, regional artists, and other attractions provide festive entertainment throughout the Advent season.
