The lecture series "A House..." of the Institute of Architecture at FHNW is entering a new round. The focus of the four evenings is on different forms of collaboration, joint designing, and authorship.
On this evening, the three architects from ETAL will present their debut work. The self-managed multi-generation house in Munich combines communal living with a simple wooden construction and adaptable floor plans.
In the winter semester 2026, the "A House..." lecture series invites four different positions in architecture: an international collective from Zurich and Belgrade, an architecture firm founded by three women from Munich, a London-based duo working from Porto and Palma de Mallorca today, and an architecture firm from Zurich that collaborated on a project in Algeria with a local office.
Using a specific building – in all four cases a residential house – the architects will provide insights into their work and working methods. The shared designing is contrasted with shared living as a second perspective. From private homes to self-managed and cooperative housing to temporary social housing, the four houses presented give different social structures and the relationship between individual and community a specific spatial form.
"A House..." is a lecture series in which buildings are comprehensively presented. This makes the different views of architects, clients, artists, users, and others who influence the appearance and fate of the buildings recognizable. The focus of the discussion varies; it ranges from urban planning principles to constructive challenges, from historical references to social ambitions. Participants and additional information:
