Description

The electrification of the SBB became a myth of an independent Switzerland during World War II. Today, the discussions and disputes among industry, the SBB, and politics from 1900 to 1920 are forgotten. The 'coal shortage' in World War I forced opponents to unite. The SBB electrified its network at record speed. The electrical industry built locomotives and power plants, which also became export hits, achieved only by the major neighboring countries of Switzerland, Sweden, and the USA.
