From Tafel-Jura to Folding-Jura: Hike along the old Landmarch

This cultural-historical hike takes you from the impressive Tafel-Jura to the stunning Folding-Jura – along the old Landmarch, which once marked the border between Vorderösterreich and Bern. Experience a varied hike of about 10 km with gentle inclines. The first highlight is the picturesque plain in Eich and the Eichkreuz with the charming forest chapel. Be inspired by the history behind these places. Then the group takes the path towards Sarben, where an old border stone awaits you – a real testament to past borders. Continue down to Oberzeihen, over Bifang, a well-known incline section, to the hamlet of Eichwald. Here, on the way to Sommerhalde, you will delve into the history of tin ore mining in the 17th century and discover the former mining sites. There, at the Brätlistelle, you will learn fascinating facts about iron ore deposits and the once important trade in the Fricktal. Along the way, you will encounter interesting information about political, landscape, and spiritual borders at prominent locations – an invitation to connect history, nature, and culture.
