Vivaldi's Gloria: Concert with the Singkreis Egg, Orchestra, and Soloists

Description

Twelve movements, opened by a trumpet motif that no one forgets: Vivaldi's Gloria RV 589 is the most radiant work of baroque church music. Jubilation and intimacy alternate, no movement lasts long, and after the first minute, you sit upright.
Antonio Vivaldi did not write this work for a princely court, but for an orphanage. As a chaplain at the Ospedale della Pietà in Venice, he taught the girls and young women living there — and composed for their voices. A traveler who heard them at the time noted that they sang "with so much power and fire as one can only expect".
In this spirit, the Singkreis Egg brings the Gloria to the Reformed Church Egg: with orchestra, two soloists, and the sparkling Vesper Psalm Lauda Jerusalem RV 609. A Sunday in November, a full church, music that resonates long after.
