Description

After great successes in the British Isles and in Ticino, the ensemble now presents this extraordinary program in Basel. Vivaldi's masterpiece is performed in an innovative quartet arrangement (two violins, cello, and piano), which gains a whole new depth through a personal narrative accompaniment. The special feature of this over 300-year-old work lies not only in the extraordinary beauty of the music but also in the story behind it. With remarkable foresight, Antonio Vivaldi published The Four Seasons together with explanatory sonnets that vividly describe the different seasons: the awakening of nature in spring, the fierce summer thunderstorm, the drunken shepherds after the autumn harvest, the person sitting by the fireplace listening to the rain. During the concert, the ensemble guides the audience through this narrative and shows how behind the apparent course of nature and events lies a deeper metaphor of life. The second part of the concert is dedicated to popular European melodies, including Hava Nagila, Bella Ciao, and the Hungarian Dances. Works that the ensemble has already presented in the most prestigious concert halls in Europe, thrilling the audience with energy, virtuosity, and charisma. The soloists Anton Jablokov – Violin A young violinist, born in Bratislava and now residing in Ticino. He combines classical precision with the energy of folk and world music. Anton studied in Lucerne, Essen, and Lugano. He is a prizewinner and finalist of various international competitions and has performed as a soloist with, among others, the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Ulster Orchestra, and the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana (OSI). Enrico Filippo Maligno – Violin A permanent member of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. Born in 1986 in Rome, he graduated with distinction from the Conservatory of Vicenza and perfected his training with C. Horak (Berlin Philharmonic) and K. Sahatçi in Lugano. Besides his orchestral activity, he is a passionate chamber musician and a member of “I Solisti di Pavia” and the Colibrì Ensemble. Adam Kuruc – Piano Slovak pianist and composer with a broad repertoire between classical, jazz, and film music. He has already composed and arranged for numerous renowned ensembles and soloists worldwide. His work for the Grammy-winning duo Rodrigo y Gabriela, for whose album he contributed significant compositions, has gained special international attention. Claude Hauri – Cello Swiss cellist with an international career. He has performed with renowned orchestras such as OSI, the National Symphony Argentina, and the Slovenian Philharmonic. He is also a sought-after chamber musician and particularly active in the field of contemporary music. ✨ An evening full of sound, character, and emotion. Experience live in Bern.
