Description

University in the Church Very Bad Fairy Tales with Marta Sýkorová Someone stop that big noise Site-specific performance of Very Bad Fairy Tales not only about high sensitivity. How many stimuli are just right, and when is it too much? This experiential lecture will connect music, voice, story, and silence with scientific insights into individual differences in the nervous system's sensitivity to sensory stimuli, their intensity, degree of overload, and depth of subsequent processing. The theoretical explanation will be linked with the performance. The church space will become a collaborator, sound will come from various places, and the audience will have the opportunity to change their position and perspective. What do we capture, and what do we still consider sound? What does our body do with sound, and what does sound do with our body? And do we all hear the same thing? Speaker: Marta Sýkorová is a student in the doctoral program of Social and Spiritual Determinants of Health at the Cyril and Methodius Theological Faculty of UP. She studies high sensitivity in people (HSP) and related issues such as people pleasing and self-sabotage. Before her doctorate, she studied molecular biology and genetics at Masaryk University in Brno. In her free time, she plays in the band Dobrá otázka and engages in creative writing. She wrote the book Very Bad Fairy Tales for Self-Destructors, Indecisive or Too Nice People. It is for those who do not believe in their own dreams and who do not need their own needs, for people who have thoughts stuck in their heads like "Others are more important than I am. I must make everyone around me happy. Having my own boundaries is selfish." She also won the audience award in the international Social Impact Awards competition with her project. Free entry. Advance reservation is recommended.
