Rilke expresses the following about the paintings of Sophy Giauque (1887–1943), which he was allowed to exhibit on the walls of Muzot for a time: "The visible is grasped by a sure hand, it is plucked like a ripe fruit, yet it does not weigh heavily, for hardly is it laid down, it must already express the invisible."
