Description

This concert combines musical innovation with automotive history, taking place in the atmospheric Pantheon Basel. The event begins outdoors with Mauricio Kagel's 'Eine Brise,' where part of the audience rides bikes as a mobile sound ensemble. Inside, the program continues with Honegger's 'Pacific 231,' a tribute to the locomotive, followed by Adams' energetic 'Short Ride in a Fast Machine.' Ligeti's quirky 'Car Horn Prelude' and 'Mysteries of the Macabre' incorporate car horns and theatrical elements, performed with soprano Sarah Maria Sun. The concert also features a personal interpretation of Berg's 'Violin Concerto' by concertmaster Simone Zgraggen. The highlight is the world premiere of a site-specific composition by Gemma Ragués Pujol, exploring the acoustics of the Oldtimer museum and the architectural space, creating a dynamic dialogue between music and environment.
