Description

On the surface, Maria is an ordinary Italian housewife. She leads a bourgeois and peaceful life. She has everything a woman could desire in life. But she lives like "a rose in a greenhouse," locked inside her home by a jealous husband, with a flirtatious brother-in-law, a whining toddler, a voyeuristic ruffian, a harassing phone caller who drives her crazy. Fortunately, the unexpected arrival of her new neighbor across the street allows her to indulge in intimate confidences that are sometimes light, serious, quirky, surprising, or even worrying... but so liberating!
Between farce and tragicomedy, between fantasy and reality, we are caught in a whirlwind of emotions! This play, written in the 1970s by Franca Rame and Dario Fo (Nobel Prize in Literature), remains relevant today. Performed at Ebullition on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the performance will be followed by a meet-and-greet.
