Description

How does a young actress affected by an early form of Alzheimer's disease build herself? How to change perspective on the irreversible and live with the inexorable? Equipped with an earpiece through which her text can be whispered to her in case of a memory lapse, Ysanis invites us to follow her into a dizzying labyrinth made of memories and distorted mirrors. In this autofictional story, personal experience and family constellation, doubts, lucidity, and daily life intertwine. Rejecting dolorism, A True Thing focuses less on pathology than on its consequences on life. While examining grief, transmission, and denial, the show leaves room for friendship and the joy of living: a complex yet luminous joy. Founded in Strasbourg in 2019 by Romain Gneouchev, the Fugue 31 company develops minimalist and intimate theater. After an initial cycle (2019-2024) focused on memory in collaboration with author Rémy Bouchinet, the company is moving towards a new cycle centered on performative forms that question the boundaries between documentary and fiction, with A True Thing marking its beginning.
