"Under the Skirts" is a dance theater piece that invites you on a dreamlike, almost initiatory journey – on the path of exposure, revelation, and liberation. It is the story of this woman – or perhaps that other one – who comes from one era or another and one day confronts her weaknesses. Forms emerge and dissolve, bodies take shape and deform to tell the unspeakable: that which weighs down, that which resonates, that which jumps out at us. A deeply feminist story, but also completely and simply human. With her lampshade on her head, this great, elegant lady gives us a glimpse into her intimacy: shame, guilt, the burden of stereotypes, impulsive thoughts as an involuntary escape from prohibitions. These depths are explored and embodied with poetry and humor. The cracks may be weaknesses, but they let the light shine through. The objects, the text, the dance – the artistic expressions intersect and accompany the story in this floating, poetic, and sometimes burlesque or even grotesque world.
