Description

Ulrike Draesner, a polyglot cross-border traveler between cultures, disciplines, and genres, wants to testify to Arctic beauty and fragility, searching for our connection to this endangered habitat, for larger contexts. For this, the author undertakes two journeys, in summer to Spitzbergen, and in winter from Tromsø through North Norwegian fjords. She finds a world full of hidden life, where humans become small. Polar day and night open special resonance spaces, and in the external silence, the unheard becomes audible: living beings, elements, atmospheres.
