A grand cinema for the ears: Looking at the concert list of Zurich's solo guitarist Attila Vural, he seems to be better known in Germany and the USA than in Switzerland. Quite unjustly! Attila Vural plucks, strokes, and strikes a well-balanced mix of jazz, Latin, and rock from his 8-string or 14-string guitars, while intermittently showcasing his advanced fingerstyle playing, treating his guitar not just as a string instrument but also as a percussion instrument. This brings new rhythmic possibilities into play, on which clarinetist Isam Shehade builds his lines. He, in turn, maintains a velvety and lyrical tone. Thus, musical pieces are constructed that hint at a bit of experimentation, but overall emphasize the harmonious interplay. Since their first joint compositions dating back to the 1990s, they have been developing a distinctive style for twelve years, which they continually reveal in concerts.
