Trio Grande is bigger than its name suggests. One might think there is no bassist, but in fact, there are three: Nate Wood may be the only person in the world capable of playing dazzlingly at both drums and bass. Saxophonist Will Vinson sometimes doubles on keys, and guitarist Gilad Hekselman is renowned for his ability to weave contrapuntal lines throughout the range of his instrument. Together, the three produce a sound as grand and wide as a sextet. Their first album, released in 2020, was already praised by international critics, and the band returns this fall with a new opus "What’s Left," of which the first video excerpts are already dizzying.
