Description

Relationship guides usually recommend fighting and persevering. However, most couples, according to the provocative thesis from Thomas Meyer's book "Break Up!", are unhappy – and should separate. Life is too short to suffer unnecessarily. With his "An Essay on Incompatible Relationships and Their Well-Deserved End," the Zurich author caused a stir in 2017 – now the Bernese composer Christian Henking has made an exciting musical theater piece from it. The libretto comes from the author himself, who has transposed his thoughts on the necessity of honesty and breakups into a lively scenic form. Henking, known for his finely crafted and often chamber music-inspired compositions, finds a clear musical language for this. In recent years, TOBS! THEATER ORCHESTER BIEL SOLOTHURN has celebrated great audience successes with new operas by Swiss composers and authors, most recently with Fabian Müller's "Eiger," which was also seen in Schaffhausen in 2022.
