Description

Valais Noir envisions a hiking trail through a dystopian Valais. The images play with regional clichés, blending familiar landscapes, traditions, and Brutalist architecture within an unsettling technological setting. The black-and-white imagery, with a grain reminiscent of old photographs, creates a temporal disorientation between past and future, tinged with dark humor. *The Manuscript of Lukapirr*, created in collaboration with writer and poet Pierre-André Milhit, unearths fragments of an enigmatic narrative. Drawn from fictional archives gathered in a cave in Mesopotamia, these traces—parchments, artifacts, encrypted documents—span a time more vast than our civilizations. Attributed to an unknown author, they compose a fragmentary mythology, somewhere between archaeological fiction and cosmic narrative. Finally, again in collaboration with Milhit, the Game of the Goose is rewritten and transformed into a symbolic form. Abandoning the game board, it unfolds as oracular cards, where each image becomes a stage to be interpreted, sketching out a life journey made up of signs and forks in the road. On the occasion of Museum Night, join us for the opening reception of Unité 3, an exhibition by Thomas Crausaz that blends memory, fiction, and anticipation through three illustrated worlds: a dystopian Valais, an imaginary archaeological mythology, and a game of the goose reimagined as oracular cards. The evening will continue with a reading from *The Lukapirr Manuscript* by writer and poet Pierre-André Milhit, followed by a performance by NoLem, a Swiss artist known for his melancholic rock sounds inspired by grunge. A bar and traditional raclette will, of course, be on hand!
