Or more precisely: the play in the face of the end. Ends mark transitions, ruptures, and states. They refer to transience – and to what remains. Samuel Beckett's "Endspiel" shows an end that is not a conclusion, but a state, a persistence, a repetition, a game without escape. Other productions also address end and transitions: history continues in "WAX TRADERS", artistic identity is questioned, and in retrospect "HAS BEEN", in "Engel der Vernichtung" the question arises whether the game is over when machines play us? In the scenic concert "INSGEHEIM", perception dissolves, and in "À fleur de peau" the endgame becomes physical – a state between balance and loss of control. "Ende, es ist zu Ende, es geht zu Ende. Es geht vielleicht zu Ende." — these are the first sentences in Beckett's "Endspiel".
